The purpose of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is to support and share information with youth and young adults in the community regarding WeARE. Council members come together to communicate, make decisions, and problem solve. In addition, members learn a variety of skills pertaining to public speaking, volunteering, organization, delivery, and teamwork.
Each year, we look for high school students in the Brainerd Lakes Area to join YAC. If you'd like to get involved, click here and complete a brief application.
Hygiene Hope Project
WeARE's Youth Advisory Council (YAC), is a student-led group passionate about promoting wellbeing and reproductive health. We are thrilled that the Minnesota Legislature has made access to menstrual products in the school bathrooms a requirement, starting in 2024. This means that our ‘Period Project’ is being taken over on the state level, and our new project can begin.

Our Hygiene Hope Project is underway and needs funding. The project involves providing hygiene products (period products, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, body soap, lotion, chapstick, etc.) to those who need or want them in an accessible way. The goal is to support our community, encourage health, and spread kindness. We believe that hygiene products are basic necessities, and everyone deserves to feel their best.
Please consider donating and helping raise these funds. Right now, every $20 donated will supply four Hygiene Hope packages. Anything helps!
